- Photo engraving is possible on slate and on some woods, but it is a halftone conversion, not a print — contrast and clarity vary with the source image. Send the photo before listing it and we will tell you honestly whether it will read well.
- What is the difference between engraving glass and engraving slate?
- Glass etches to a soft translucent frost that catches light, which suits fine script and delicate line art. Slate burns to a near-white chalk tone with hard edges, which suits bold text, family names and signage.
- Do frames ship with the glass and backing in place?
- Yes, frames ship complete and ready to gift; we engrave the frame face and leave the assembly untouched.
